SFL Div 5: Clonmore 2-15 Tinryland 0-7

November 8, 2018

On a lovely evening for football, this game didn't reach the heights of last week's match against Tullow but still Clonmore had a job to do and they did it well. First half points by the impressive Richard Roche (2), Clive Lambe (2) JP Doyle and Paul Byrne gave us the platform to build on in the second half. Backed by a solid full back line, the half back line of Cian Heffernan, Mick Smith and Larry Doyle moved the ball well from back to front, and points flowed freely from Collie, Clive, Fisher and a Larry free. A goal by Clive on 40mins ended the game as a contest and another major by Richard Roche on the hour gave the scoreline a slightly flattering look. Wesley Tallon came on as a sub on 45 minutes and produced a memorable cameo performance scoring three tidy points.

Fair play to all the lads who travelled to make sure we had enough players to fulfill the fixture – it was well worth the journey to come home with two points and a handsome 14 point victory. Credit also to the Selectors on a job well done.

The next game is at home to O'Hanrahans on Tuesday next, 19 April at 7.15pm.

PHOTO: John Connolly rolled back the years against Tinryland to play his first full game in over 5 years and showed that he never lost it, reading the game like a book and never wasting a ball. John and his fellow team mates from the Minor & U-21 Championship winning teams of the early 90s, Colin Doyle, John McGrath and Paul Byrne, continue to prove the old saying that "form is temporary, class in permanent".
