This was a great win by the Juniors in Tullow on Tuesday night. With the wind in the first half, an exhibition of point scoring by Sean Deay (0-5), a cracking goal by JP and a point by Jamie Walsh gave us a 2-6 to 2-2 half-time lead. Clonmore's first goal was an OG after a rocket from JP hit the crossbar and rebounded off a defender into the net. In the second half, we had to withstand a determined, wind assisted, onslaught from the home team. Inspired by the impressive fielding of Paul Sheppard and incisive play of TJ Kavanagh, Tullow reduced the arrears to one point, 2-7 to 2-6, on 45 minutes. With their tails up, Tullow mounted attack after attack and only desperate defending by Jason Fitzharris, John Kelly and the Clonmore backs prevented a couple of certain goals being scored. If Tullow had gone ahead at that point they may well have gone on to win the game but, having weathered the storm, a late burst of scores, including goals from Jamie Walsh and Owen Coleman, gave us a rather flattering 12 point win.
