SKGAA Newsletter 12/07/18

November 8, 2018

A chairde,

Plenty to report on this week. Our annual Golf Am-Am is taking place tomorrow. It has been a feature of the club calender for many years now and is always full. Míle buíochas to Mark Gibbs and the DHKN guys for organising again this year and we hope all you golf buffs have a good day. Míle buíochas as well to the many sponsors who support the event each year, it always raises some badly needed funds at this time of the year-it's wonderful to see the amount of people who return each year to support the event by playing and sponsoring so it really is very much appreciated. Best of luck to all involved tomorrow and thanks a mill again.

Lots of action to report on below. Best of luck to our county football minors and seniors in particular who have pivotal games this weekend. Well done also to Donal O'Shea who put in a man of the match performance for the Galway minor hurlers in Thurles last weekend, scoring 1-5 in total in their win over Limerick. A very proud day for the O'Shea family and all involved in SKGAA hurling. Up next is Kilkenny this weekend.

Numbers drawn 3,5,6,10

Congratulations to joint Match 3 winners, Kieran and Angela Brennan, and Owen and Breda McDonough who win E75 each

Jackpot now at €12,150. It could be you…….

Adult Football

Senior:

Well done to the senior footballers who had a super win over Annaghdown away in the league last week. The much depleted team were three points down at half time but turned on the style in the second half and completed a tremendous performonce with a win. It will be a different affair in the championship in a month or so but hopefully the same result. All the best to our Connacht Champions (above) Evan, Ruairi, Sean and the Galway footballers who kick off their Super 8s this weekend on Sunday vs  Kerry in Croke Park.

Junior A

The Junior As play their final league game vs St. Michaels in Westside this evening.

Last championship match home to Michael Breathnachs on July 17th next Tuesday in the prairie at 7pm. All support for these magnificent youngsters would be appreciated in their last home game.

U15 League: the lads had a good win on Friday evening vs Claregalway on a scoreline of 2-10 to 2-9. Last league game is away vs St James on Tuesday 24th July. We have already qualified for the League Final which will be played at the end of August.

There was a good result for the U14a footballers on a perfect evening for a match last Wednesday. We dominated possession and put some great moves together. All minds now focused on the final match v Moycullen (away) on this Friday July 13th. All support appreciated.

U12s played strong Kinvara team last Saturday morning (7th). Our boys gave a good performance against the table toppers and the final score didn’t reflect the balance of play.

Last group match next Sat morning (14th) vs Cusacks in the Prairie at 10:30am.

U13 Hurling.

The U13's played Rahoon Newcastle in the Prairie on Monday evening.  We had a 5 point win over our neighbours.  Final score SKGAA 5-04 to 4-02 Rahoon Newcastle.

U16 Hurling.

Our u16s lost the County Semi Final after extra time by 2 points to Ahascragh Fohenagh

Down 6pts with 3 mins left, The lads gave it everything and drew level . We conceded 1.3 in first 4 mins of extra time, no more after that but the 1.1 scored wasn't enough. This team has unbelievable spirit, won 7 out of 8 group matches to get this far, mainly by a point or two. We have had a great year, they are a super group and gave us some great evenings.

Hard luck to all the Players and Management.  And to all the Parents for their support.
