St. Pats U-10 ‘A’ hurlers played the South Blitz last Saturday week in
Kilsheelin. We were in a group of 4 which included Kilsheelin, Clerihan
and Fethard. We started against Kilsheelin and it was very even for the
first half. We had a number of chances of scores but were unable to
convert, we went in level at half time. Unfortunatley Kilsheelin got a
fortuitous goal early in the second half and we failed to claw it back.
Kilsheelin won by 3 points.
In our second game we played Clerihan. We started very well with score
from Anghous McDonald and Denis Clancy. The early score gave the lads
confidence and they pushed on giving a very good display. Further scores
came from Cian and Ryan Crannitch and Jamie Brett.
In our third game we played near neighbours Fethard. Thankfully we
continued our good form from the Clerihan game and scores came early
from Matt McCormack and Anghous McDonald. We went in at half time 4
points to the good. Our forwards continued to put up the scores and a
good overall display was back boned by a half back line of Keith
Morrissey, Cathal Foley and Aidan Fitzgerald.

A good day’s hurling was had by all and we were very unlucky not to have
had three wins from three.

Under 10 football blitz

Our U10 footballers played in the Ardfinnan U10 tournament last
Saturday. They were in a group with Newcastle and Ardfinnan B. They
qualified out of their group quite easily and played some very
entertaining football. They played Clonmel Og in the semi final. It was
a ding dong affair. Pats dug in and showed great determination to score
a goal in the dying seconds to secure a place in the final.
Grangemockler were the opposition in the final. Grangemockler started
the better in the final scoring early but the Drangan and Cloneen lads
steadied the ship and went in a point down at half time. It was a great
game of football and Pats pushed into the lead during the second half.
Grangemockler came back to level it and unfortunately through a short
free kick they snatched the winning score in injury time. It was a
really good display from our lads and were unlucky not to bring the
silverware home.
