YEARS of waiting came to an end for hundreds of St Colmans football supporters at Flanagan Park, Ballinrobe last Sunday, March 1st, when the Claremorris college recorded a 0-13 to 1-7 win over St Geralds in the Connacht College’s ‘A’ Final. Garrymore were strongly represented as always with captain Shane Nally, Caolan Crowe and Brian Walsh all playing staring rolls. Indeed Nally, who scored three frees, received the Man of the Match Award at the finish. Brian Walsh hit a free, the opening point of the game and ironically hit the final score of the day, a point from play, deep into added time. The sides were tied at 0-6 to 1-3 at the break but Colmans out scored Gerards 0-5 to 0-2 in final quarter to win home. Garrymore GAA Club wishes to express its congratulations to the college on a superb day, to all the players and management team and all the staff at the college. The side now march into the All Ireland semi-final in two weeks time, March 14th/15th against Edenderry we believe with a day out in Croke Park in the All Ireland Final the reward.
