St Mary’s Edenderry will play St Pat’s of Navan in a replay after the sides drew 2-11 a piece after extra time.
St Pat’s started the brighter and lead 0-5 to 0-1 until Lorcan Pender rattled the Navan net. Then Edenderry took control and added a few points to lead by one point going in at half time.
St Pat’s regrouped for the second half and they got in for a goal, a goal very similar to the one in last years heart breaking All-Ireland final defeat. With just ten minutes remaining Edenderry trailed by 3 points but they battled against the odds, and the referee to level back and force extra time.
In the first half of extra time Anton Sullivan shook the St Pat’s net and put Edenderry 3 points ahead. However with just 2 minutes left in the second half of extra time St Pat’s of Navan also got in for a goal and it was all square again.
Edenderry could have and probably should have won this game. They missed a few chances one on one with the goalie but they battled very bravely against what could only be described as 16 men all game.
Referee Barry Kelly from Westmeath had an absolute shocker in the middle of the field, awarding 40 free’s in total, 28 of which went to St Pat’s of Navan.
