St. Patrick's Ladies GAA Club notes w/c 24th April 2017

November 7, 2018

Under 6, 8 and 1O's
Training continues on Monday evenings at 7pm in Drangan Field. New players at these age groups are welcome to come along and join.

Under 12's
Hard luck to our u12 girls who got beaten by a stronger Slieve Na mBan team, on Friday evening past. Our girls never gave up and tried really hard to the final whistle. For many of these girls, it was their first taste of competitive football and they will continue to learn and improve with this experience. Their second round championship match is against Clerihan away on Wednesday 25th of April.

Under 14's
Our under 14 girls had a tough outing in the Féile playoffs on bank holiday Monday. They met Galtee Rovers first off and whilst the St. Patrick's girls tried hard, Galtee Rovers were in a different league and came away winning on a scoreline of 4.6 to St. Patrick's no score. Next up, we played Moyne Templetuohy and this was a much more evenly balanced game, with final score St. Patrick's 1.2 Moyne Templetuohy 1.3. Galtee Rovers went on to win out the Féile A competition and we wish them well as they represent Tipperary in the National Feile at the end of June. The community games u14 opening match vs Kilsheelin has been organised for Wednesday 3rd of May at 7pm in Anner Park Cloneen. Commiserations to our four representatives on the Tipperary Ladies u14 team: Eabha Hogan, Jessica Strappe, Dearbhla Morrissey and Erin O'Brien and their teammates who were beaten by Cork in the Munster u14A semi final on Saturday past.

Under 16's

Our under 16 girls played their third round C championship match at home against Ardfinnan last Wednesday evening. The St. Patrick's girls were slower to get into the pace of the game in the first half and missed a few scores to settle, which resulted in Ardfinnan going in at the half time break well up on a scoreline of St. Patrick's no score to Ardfinnan 3.4. The St. Patrick's girls tried very hard throughout the second half, with Eimear Boland getting a few nice scores and Ciara Butler getting a point from a well worked run through the Ardfinnan defence. Final score: St. Patrick's 0.4 Ardfinnan 5.6.
Team lineout: Gemma Gahan, Ashling Boland, Katie McCormack, Aine Ryan, Ciara Fitzgerald, Sarah Cranitch, Aoife Horan, Olivia Noonan, Leanne Murphy (captain), Eimear Boland (0.2, 0.1f), Aoibheann McGrath, Avril White, Ciara Butler (0.1) & Siobhan O'Hanlon. Subs not played: Dearbhla Morrissey, Erín O'Brien, Eabha Hogan, Jessica Strappe & Rachel Butler (injured).
Unfortunately our hopes of progressing in the u16C cup championship are now over & our focus will now turn to the u16C blitz.

Junior Ladies
Well done to our junior ladies team and team manager Michael Moroney who made the long journey to Emly on bank holiday Monday evening and recorded an impressive win in the Tipperary Ladies C championship over Emly. This was an all round great team performance, with many of our younger players making their their debut on the junior team. Team lineout: Sadhbh Morrissey, Maria McGrath, Aileen Sugrue, Sarah Sugrue, Aoife Doheny, Eadaoin Wilson (captain), Ciara Fitzgerald, Sarah Mockler,  Abaigeal Maher (1.0), Niamh Keane (1.2), Caoimhe Ryan (0.5, 0.1 (f), Leanne Murphy (0.2), Eimear Boland (2.4), Sarah Walton, Siobhán Vaughan (0.3) and Una O'Brien (0.1). Next up is Silvermines Ladies, which is a home fixture for us and has been scheduled for Saturday 29th of April at 5pm in Anner Park Cloneen.
