Under 10’s and 12’s
Our annual under 10 and 12 Parish League took place on Sunday past. The near 40 girls where split into four teams Kerry, Dublin, Cork and Mayo and played a preliminary game to get a spot in either the Plate or Cup final. There were some fantastic displays of football throughout all the games and full credit to all the girls who took part. In the Plate final it was the Cork and Dublin teams who qualified, this game was so close it went to extra time, with the Cork team winning out by the narrowest of margins. Joint winning captains for the Cork team were Clodagh Horan and Aoife O’Brien. The Cup final was contested by the Kerry and Mayo teams, with the Kerry team proving to be a little stronger on the day. The Parish league cup was presented to the joint captains of the Kerry team Mary Ann Fitzgerald and Claire O’Brien. Huge thanks to Gillian O’Brien and Sarah Everard Tipperary Ladies Intermediate players who were in attendance and who presented medals to all the girls and facilitated the many requests for photos. Also acknowledgement and thanks to our own Caoimhe Ryan who refereed all the matches and gave of her time for the afternoon and to all eight coaches who were involved in organising the event and coaching teams on the day. Thanks to all the parents who helped out with the refreshments and who came along in big numbers to support the girls. This event now sees the end of club football action for the under 10 and 12 teams for this year. St. Patrick’s Ladies Club would like to extend huge thanks to the coaches of both age groups for their work, efforts and commitment with all these girls all year, with the fruits of their work very much on display during the Parish League competition. Under 10’s: Margaret Hogan, Audrey Moroney and Edward O’Brien. Under 12’s: Siobhan Vaughan, Ann Marie Ryan, Catriona Boland, Shelia Butler and Mairead Foley. Best wishes to all the girls that will move up an age group and we hope to see all the girls back out in 2018!

Under 14’s
Commiserations to our u14 team who got beat by Moyne Templetuohy in the u14B semi-final in Littleton on Saturday evening past. The game from start to finish was an epic battle by both teams and one which could have went either way up to the final whistle. Moyne went into lead first with an early goal and two points and it took a fantastic individual effort by Issy Maher to get St. Patrick's on the scoreboard with her first goal of the year. St. Patrick's then settled and had scores from no less than five other girls in the first half: Jessica Strappe (0.1), Rachel Butler (0.1), Ava Heffernan (1.1), Isabelle Hayden (0.1) and Eabha Hogan (0.4). Half time score 2.8 a piece. The second half was an equally exciting display of football from both sets of girls. In defence and midfield, there was huge workrate from the St. Patrick's girls for the 60 minutes, with well taken goals from Eabha Hogan and Jessica Strappe keeping the St. Patrick's hopes very much alive to the last 5 minutes of the game. However, in the last few minutes Moyne snuck in a goal in the top corner of the St. Patrick's net and with that came added momentum for them to drive on to get two further points and this got them over the end line on a scoreline: St. Patrick's 4.10 Moyne Templetuohy 4.14. Team: Dearbhla Morrissey, Robyn Horan, Katie McCormack, Gemma Gahan, Issy Maher, Erin O Brien (c), Laura Murphy, Rachel Butler, Eabha Hogan, Ava Heffernan, Aoibheann McGrath, Keelin Ryan, Isabelle Hayden, Siobhan O'Hanlon (vc), Jess Strappe, Sadhbh Morrissey, Mia O'Dwyer, Niamh Boland, Mary Ann Fitzgerald, Katie Power & Clodagh Foley.
The St. Patrick's girls can be incredibly proud of their efforts yesterday, they give it their absolute all and did not stop working and battling to the final whistle. They had a fantastic summer league and championship campaign, getting to the semi final stages in both competitions. Well done girls!
Huge thanks to the under 14 coaches Úna O'Brien, Helen Hogan and Eamon Murphy for their work and efforts with the girls all year. Thanks to the parents who were so committed taking the girls to training sessions and matches since January. Best wishes to the girls who move on to under 16 and to the girls who have another year at under 14 level. We hope to see you all out again next year!
