Stanley Minnock R.I.P.

November 7, 2018

Stanley Minnock.
Sincerest sympathy to Lily and all the Minnock family, Twickenham on the death of Stanley. Though, in poor health recently, Stanley was out and about last weekend. He attended bingo in Ballycumber on Good Friday and in Clara on Easter Sunday. His passing is a shock to everyone who knew him. Originally from Rahan parish and very proud of his roots. Stanley was a great supporter of Ballycumber GAA Club. He sold lotto tickets every week at the various Card Games that he attended.
On the playing fields Stanley was a hurler of note with the famous Blackwood Rovers team and later with St Carthages. In 1977 he turned his attention to football and was a valued member of the Balycumber Junior B team who won the Championship that year. Lining out at full forward his duel with Eddie Murphy of Gracefield in the final was worth seeing and he had the distinction of scoring the goal which helped in no small way to the victory. On many occasions since he took great pride in reminding us that he scored that goal.
Stanley was a family man first of all and he was very proud of Ger, Jacinta, Regina, Amanda and Brenda and the untimely death of his daughter Martina was hard on him and Lily.
Stanley had great faith and was a frequent visitor of Churches and we are sure that God has prepared a special place for him in Heaven. May he rest in Peace.
