Team effort earns Roche Ladies well earned win

November 8, 2018

On the back of their win over St. Mochtas last week, Roche Ladies hosted neighbours Naomh Malachi in Roche on Sunday morning in their second league game. Naomh Malachi played with a strong wind in the first half scoring 1–1 before Shannon Murphy got the home side off the mark with a point. Jennifer McCourt levelled the game with her first score of the day when she found the net.  The Malachis added 2 more points to their tally but it was Roche Ladies who went in at half time with a 1 point lead with further scores from Margaret O’Hare, Roseanna Heeney and Amy Gribben. Roche 1–4 Naomh Malachi 1–3.

In the second half Roche Ladies took real advantage of the wind scoring 1–6 without reply from Naomh Malachi and their score could have been more only that the Malachi’s keeper pulled off a fine save after Roche Ladies were awarded a penalty. Naomh Malachi did add 1 point to their tally before the end of the game. Excellent defending and scoring along with teamwork gave Roche Ladies their well-earned win. Scores in this half came from the boots of Megan Fitzpatrick 0–1, Jennifer McCourt 0–1, Roseanna Heeney 1–2, Amy Gribben 0–1, Margaret O’Hare 0–1 and Caoimhe Hearty 0–1.

Final Score: Roche 2–11 Naomh Malachi 1–4.
