Under 10’s

The under 10’s travelled to Red Hughs on Saturday morning last to take part in their first blitz of the season. 32 children from St. Marys took part in the A and the B competitions and all gave an impressive display in their first outing of the season. Training continues on Saturday morning at 11am with the next blitz on Saturday 23rd May.

Under 12’s

The U-12’s continued their unbeaten start to the season with an away win over Mc Cumhaills on Monday night. In what was an outstanding first half team performance the team lead by 3-8 to no score at half time, with the goals coming from Luke Witherow, Conor Rodgers and Simon Mc Glynn. St Mary’s opened the scoring in the second half with quick points from Jack Blake and Simon Mc Glynn. Mc Cumhaills came back strongly and with the breeze were the better side for most of the second half putting St Mary’s under some pressure. They notched up 1-6 without reply before a well struck 45 from James Kee found the top corner to relieve some of the pressure. Mc Cumhaills scored another goal and a point late in the game but convoy held on for the win. Final score:  Mc Cumhaills 2-7: St. Mary’s  4-10

The scores were Jack Blake 0-6, James Kee 1-2, Simon Mc Glynn 1-1, Conor Rodgers 1-1 and Luke Witherow 1-0.

Next game is away to Naomh Colmcille on Wednesday at 7, the bus leaving Drumkeen at 5:50, Convoy at 6 and Raphoe 6:10. Training is on Monday at 6.

However they did not play to their potential in the second half only scoring two points as Mc Cumhaills took victory in the end. Scorers: Peter Blake 1 3, Anthony Browne 0 2, Emmet Patterson 0 1.

The minors won in their game v Fanad on Monday last. Their next game is v Mc Cumhaills on Monday next. Training continues for both teams on Friday at 6pm

Seniors and Reserves

The reserve team defeated Red Hughs 1 9 to 0 8 in Convoy on Saturday evening. They lead 1 6 to 0 3 at half time, having played with the help of the breeze. The goal came from midfielder Conor Mc Nulty who scored 1 6 in all in a fine performance. Red Hughs pressed hard in the second half but goal keeper Emmet Doherty pulled off a fine save mid way through the half to deny them a certain goal. This kept the home side in front and they finished well to secure victory. Scorers: Conor Mc Nulty 1 6, Gary Harvey 0 1, Michael Rodgers 0 1, Gary Mc Cullagh 0 1.

The senior team drew with Red Hughs on a 0 10 to 1 7 scoreline. This was a closely contested game and looked like Red Hughs could win when they found the net with about twenty five minutes gone to lead 1 5 to 05. However two points from Paidraig Porter and one from Lauerence Mc Mullan left the sides level 0 8 to 1 5 at halftime. Both sides only managed two points in the second half to share the points. Scorers: Paidraig Porter 0 6, Laurence Mc Mullan 0 4. Their next game is at the weekend in the Junior Championship against local rivals Naomh Colmcille. We wish the team good luck as they embark on their championship campaign.
