Templeogue Synge Street 1-3 - Ranelagh Gaels 2-14

November 7, 2018

Ranelagh Gaels continued there strong introduction into Division 9 on Sunday against Templeogue SS.

The Gaels lead by 9 points to 1 at the break but should of lead by more with strong attacking chances, points from Johnny Conlon, Brian Regan and Ronan Rasdale. It was the backs that showed a fine display to keep Templeogue from creating clear chances.

Knowing they under performed in the first half the home side took advantage of some strong cross field winds, won heavily on possession and domination in the Gaels half. This pressure didn’t go with out reward with points and a goal mouth scamble goal.

The second half seen the welcome return of Paul O’Mahoney back from injury who played his part in setting up one of the goals.

Although the Gaels defense could soak up most of the pressure on many occasions, they found it difficult to catch Templeogue on the break and create free flowing chances. Excellent work in the backs from Denis, Martin and John. Against the run of play the Gaels found some composure to move wide up the field and finish a fine goal again from the one and only Jeremy McCarthy in the last moments of the game. This was followed up by some points which killed the game.

Manager Liam O’ Hagan will be very happy with the 2 points and the away win but knows that more work has to be done if Gaels are to be taken serious in the Championship this season.
