The 2012 Airtricity season has ended and Drogheda United have emerged as league runners-up after a wonderful proud performance in Dalymount Park tonight. Congratulations to Mick Cooke, Robbie Horgan and our tremendous squad of players on their extraordinary performance not only tonight but throughout this season. A special word of praise for Tiarnán Mulvenna who scored an incredible hat-trick tonight and to Alan McNally who added another goal to his tally for the season.
We have an unbelievable season to look forward to with a new European adventure, the Setanta Cup and of course our big friendly against Turkish Super League side Trabzonspor in March. The hard work begins now!
On the subject of hard work, we reserve our last word of the season for some people without whom this great club just wouldn’t be able to function, who give selflessly of their time week in week out, not only during the season but during the off-season as well. Many of these have been involved in the club for more years than they care to remember, others have stepped up to the plate in more recent years. But common to all is a generosity of spirit that we deeply appreciate. Thank you, thank you, thank you to each and every one of our tremendous volunteers. We can’t name them all individually but they have all contributed immeasurably to our success this season.
