The U15’s has an early start this Bank Holiday Monday in their penultimate game of the season away to Avondale Utd. Coach, Ray Merchant, was celebrating his 70th birthday and was anxious to start the day on the right note. Crosshaven started the game really well & were unlucky not to take an early lead through Patrick Cotter. The opening goal did arrive in the 21st minute though. Diego Campos pouncing on a loose ball in the area to fire in an unstoppable shot. Avondale equalised ten minutes before the break. Conor Finn denying the Avondale striker with a point blank save but couldn’t keep out the rebound. Avondale pushed on & should of went ahead squandering two great chances. It was Crosshaven though who led at the break, Diego again finding the net with an identical goal to his first. The second half was again very even with both teams defending well. Avondale struck a post & Diego was denied a hat trick by a double save before Zach Murphy settled the nerves firing home from close range. Final score Avondale 1 Crosshaven 3. Best for Crosshaven were Josh McCarthy, Adam Welch, Conor Finn & Darragh Fehilly.
