The U15's returned to competitive action...

November 8, 2018

The U15's returned to competitive action for the first time in 8 weeks Saturday morning away to Ballincollig A in the Local Cup. The Regional Park was extremely heavy and didn't suit Crosshaven at all but the team still managed to grind out a victory. A goal from the training ground gave Crosshaven a team minute lead. Lee Davies heading home a Rory O'Sullivan corner. Within minutes Ballincollig had turned things around to lead 2-1 before Davies levelled with a good run & finish. The home side edged in front again before half time to lead 3-2. Crosshaven who had missed the warm up finally got going second half with Zach Murphy levelling & then Patrick Cotter scoring to make it 4-3. Just when you think things are settling down the game took another twist when Owen Merchant received his marching orders with 15 minutes remaining. Within five minutes Ballincollig had equalised to send the game to extra time. Crosshaven rearranged the team and deservedly regained the lead with Simon Tabb scoring after super wing play from Ethan Berkery Kelly. The final blow that killed Ballincollig off came from Diego Campos who lifted the ball over the home keeper for the sixth. A lot of rusty players on show but the team were resilient & deserved to advance. Best for Crosshaven were Lee Davies, Rory O'Sullivan, Christian Byrne & Zach Murphy.
