Junior Hurling

Saturday evening June 28th was a busy night for our junior hurlers as both our A and B teams were in action in Kilsheelan. Our Junior B's were first up when they took on St Mary's. 2 early goals in the first half set our lads on their way and in the end these were the difference between the teams as the game ended 2-9 to 9 points. The team on the night was: Declan Ryan, Anthony Barry, Willie O'Brien, Ivan Brett, Tommy Hayes, Richie Needham, Conor Gorey, Jason Hayes, Aaron Cronin, Mark Slattery, Marcus O'Halloran, Darren Boland, Kieran O'Brien, James Buckley, Conor Cuddihy Subs: Keelan O'Neil, Cameron Moynihan, Mark Fitzgerald, Tony Smith, Steven O'Brien

Our Junior A hurlers were up next in Kilsheelan where Clonmel Óg were the opposition. After a slow start we came into it more near the end of the first half and led at half-time by 1-12 to 1-05.We took control of the game in the second half and added 3 further goals to increase our lead. Although Clonmel Óg got in for 2 soft enough goals in last 10 minutes it wasn't enough for them and we won on a scoreline of 4-17 to 3-8. They now have to play Ballylooby/ Castlegrace in their final group game where the winner will go through to the knockout stage. Team on the night was: John Moroney, Conor Clancy, Paddy Moroney, Damien Barry, Nicky Kearney, Conor Barry, Paul Horan, Danny Gleeson, Shane Gorey, Robbie Meagher, Mark Mullally, Tony O'Brien, Aidan Buckley, Robbie McCormack, Brendan Gleeson Subs: Darren Meagher, Kieran Clancy, Colm Dunne, Jason Hayes, Mark Slattery.

On sunday last our junior hurlers played Ballylooby/Castlegrace in their final group game in Clonmel Sportsfield. We needed a win in order to qualify for the knockout stages. Heavy rain during the first half made for difficult playing conditions. We started off brightly with a goal from Robbie Meagher. However for all the possession we had we couldn't convert it to scores and along with the concession of easy scores we ended up going in at half-time a point down. We played much better in the second half however but still wasted a lot of scoreable opportunities. Ballylooby had a number of opportunities for goals but couldn't get one that they needed and we ran out winners on a scoreline of 1-16 to 1-13. The win puts us in the knockout stage and could end up going straight into the semi-final depending on the result in the Newcastle/Skeheenarinka game. The team on the day was: John Moroney, Conor Clancy, Paddy Moroney, Damien Barry, Nicky Kearney, Conor Barry, Paul Horan, Danny Gleeson, Shane Gorey, Cathal Mahoney, Mark Mullally, Tony O'Brien, Aidan Buckley, Robbie Meagher, Brendan Gleeson Subs: Darren Meagher, Robbie McCormack, Neil Gleeson, Colm Dunne, Kieran Clancy, Darren Boland, Aaron Cronin, Richie Needham, Ciarán Mockler, Mark Slattery, Declan Ryan, Steven O Brien,

Minor Football

Last Wednesday evening in Monroe our minor footballers played Kilsheelan/Kilcash in the South Semi-Final. Our lads started off well and were leading at half-time on a scoreline of 7 points to 1-3. We went further ahead in the second half when we got in for a goal however the concession of frees allowed Kilsheelan to get back into the game. These frees however would end up costing us the game as Kilsheelan went ahead for the first time in the last few minutes. However much as they tried our lads could not find the equalizer they needed and ended up losing on a scoreline of 1-10 to 1-09.

Team on the night was: Conor Cuddihy, Alex Donovan, Ciarán Mockler, Adam Fitzgerald, Joey Noonan, Charlie Manton, Paul Moloney, Aidan Buckley, Darren Boland, Niall Doocey, Cathal Mahoney, Jack Purcell, Jamie Broderick, Eoghan Hurley, Conor Clancy. Subs: Niall Keane, Conor Gorey, Cameron Moynihan, Cathal Meagher, Tom Condon, Steven O'Brien, Shane Hannigan, Barry O’Dwyer.
