Clara remain on course to retain their The Dowling Cup following a hard earned three point win over Tullamore in O’Connor Pk on Saturday evening. This was an evenly contested game all through with some great scores from both sides. Clara led by 0-7 to 0-5 at the break, with Thomas Deehan (Clara) and Shane Dooley (Tullamore) each kicking four points. In fact it was really the Deehan and Dooley show as both players gave an exhibition of point scoring and both ending up with 0-8 each, five of Deehan’s came from play while were evenly split four from frees and four from play. There was just a point between the sides with two minutes left, but Clara finished the stronger and late points from Guilfoyle and Deehan sealed a three point victory.
