Carras 2-19 Louisburagh 4-5

The U-13’s of Carras may have lead from start to finish in this Div 3 league encounter last Friday evening, August 27th, but an almighty challenge was put to them by the visitors Louisburgh who never threw in the towel and made the home side fight tooth and nail for this victory that finished on a final score line of 2-19 to 4-5. Carras led 2-9 to 2-2 at half time and they were full value for that advantage, clipping over some fantastic long range scores and landing seven points in succession to move clear. Darren Quinn and Andre Fahy hit home their sides goals along with points from Darren Monroe in the corner along with Matthew Keady and goal scorer Quinn also among the chief score getters. However Louisburgh produced a fine third quarter and hit two goals and narrowed the gap at one stage to just four points but Carras didn’t hibernate totally and regrouped and worked tremendously hard to build on their lead and finished stronger with further points by Ronan Quinn, who finished with 1-8, Martin McHale, Andre Fahy and Darren Monroe. It was a tremendous start to the league for Eamon Quinn and Brendan Hughes’s team but will face stiffer tests in coming weeks. The side face trips to Ardmoy and Kiltane and no doubt will prove stiff opposition for the South Mayo side.
