U-14s win South Mayo title. Claremorris 2-10 Mayo Gaels 3-10

A storming second half performance saw our U-14s capture the South Mayo title in Claremorris on Thursday evening. The sides played out a dramatic draw last week in Abbey Park but the Gaels did it the hard way, travelling to Claremorris and beating the locals. The home side had the better of the first half leading by three at the break on a score line of Claremorris 2-7 Mayo Gaels 2-3. Similarly to last week the Gaels lads saved their best for the second half and out scored the home side 1-7 to 0-3 with some fine scores. This gave them a deserved win on a final score line of Claremorris 2-10 Mayo Gaels 3-10. This victory is all the more special considering that on their way to the title the Gaels beat two amalgamated sides Hollymount/Carramore and Carras (Garrymore and Kilmaine) as well as Claremorris who have such a large pick. It shows what can be achieved if the attitude is right and by hard work. Well done to all the players for their hard work all year and to their managers Charlie Regan and Shane Vahey.
