U10 Football Blitz provides great exhibition of skill

November 8, 2018

On Saturday the 3rd of September Edenderry Under 10’s successfully hosted Lucan Sarsfields, Leixlip, Navan O’Mahony’s, Portlaoise and Longford Slashers GAA club.
On the day Edenderry qualified for the A final where they lost out to Lucan Sarsfields. Edenderry had managed to overcome Lucan earlier in the day narrowly but just lost out on this occasion. This Lucan team had never been beaten in their own Dublin competition so it was a great achievement for the boy’s to be competing with the best.
The tournament was very competitive with Portlaoise and Navan O’Mahony’s contesting the B final and Longford Slashers and Leixlip contesting the C final.
The Club owes a huge debt of gratitude to Patrick Larkin who sponsored the food, Willie Farrell, Paschal Walsh and John Kelliher who refereed the games.
The club also owes a huge thanks to all the parents who helped out on the day providing refreshments.
The Under 10 management also wish to thank Tom Reilly for keeping record of the scores and the league table. We would also like to thank Liam Brereton who kept track of the time for each game.
Overall the Edenderry boy’s can be very proud of their achievements in competing with the best clubs in Leinster and recording great wins in the process. This tournament demonstrated that if the boy’s keep working hard they will be able to compete at the highest standards in the future. Well done to all involved
