U12's lose tough battle in Ballintubber

November 8, 2018

Our U12’s gave a battling performance but came out 2nd best, away to Ballintubber in the penultimate round of the Mini League Group B. The final score was Mayo Gaels 3:08 Ballintubber 5:07.

The Gaels will rue the many missed goal chances they squandered throughout the game. There were 6 or 7 one-on-one situations but the Ballintubber goalkeeper was in fine form and dealt with them all bravely.

With the wind at their backs in the 1st quarter, the Gaels were 1:03 to no score at the first break. While we did score in the 2nd quarter, Ballintubber open their account and there was only a point in it at half time.

The 3rd quarter, with the wind behind them again, was the one to charge ahead, but we couldn’t produce the finishing touches that we had shown in earlier games. Two points behind going into the last quarter and it was always going to be tough. However the guys kept battling and a bit more luck in front of goal might have turned things around.

On now to the final round of the group on July 15th when we host Islandeady.
