Well done to our U12 team who went away to Westport on Monday May20th and ground out a well deserved victory. It was a good close encounter with only 3 or 4 points between the teams for most of the game. In the end the Gaels prevailed and won by 5 points. The final score was Westport 5:06 Mayo Gaels 5:11.
Nathan Lavelle was goalkeeper for the game and acquitted himself very well, stopping 3 or 4 ‘sure chances’ and clearing his lines. Nathan McGurrin lined out in the full-back line this week with Adam, Aaron and Brian and they made things very hard for the Westport attackers.
Miles, Phelim and Rory again had a great game and linked up very well with the two Sean’s and Luke throughout the game. Alan and Cathal worked up and down the wings, making themselves available and sending good supply into Ronya, Jack, Colum, Jarlath and David.
The third game of the league is on next Monday in Abbey Park where we welcome Burrishoole. We had a large following this week of Mums, Dads and family. Hopefully we will get similar numbers on the 27th.
