U13 Div6 team captained by Emma Verbruggen McGinn had their final league match away to Naas at 12pm Saturday 30th September with the referee Anthony Hubert taking charge of the game.
Maynooth came out fired up and created great chances scoring two great goals in the opening 15 minutes. Naas defence withstood several attacks from the Maynooth side. Maynooth defence prevented Naas from coming forward and there were some great individual performances on display along with great team work. Maynooth at half time were up 2-1 to 0-1.
The sun was beaming down on both the girls and spectators alike and the ref allowed a water break at the mid way point in the 2nd half. Up until this point both teams were evenly matched. The water break seem to suit the Naas girls more so than the Maynooth girls. Naas took complete advantage and took their scores while Maynooth sent a few wide of the post. At the end of the day the result went in favour of Naas with the final score being Maynooth 3-2 to Naas 4-4.
Our congratulations to Naas who have finished 3rd in the Div6 league and we wish them the best of luck in their impending semi-final.
We would also like to congratulate our U13 Div6 team although the result did not go in our way the girls also have an upcoming semi- final and we wish them the best of luck.
