Under 14 Division 3 game between Roche Emmets and St. Brides in Páirc de Róiste at 7:30pm on the 7th June.
The game was played through constant rain and the pitch was extremely slippery and control of the ball was difficult when the players attempted to hop the ball or collect a bouncing ball.
The play was even for the first quarter and the first score came after five minutes; an Anthony Hayden goal for Roche with Emmett Kirk pulling a piont back from a free a minute later. Kirk converted another free kick after Sean McCourt pointed from play. Then Robert Mackin and Caoimhín Reilly both pointed and then Mackin goaled to end a strong ten minute spell for Roche which left the score 2-3 to 0-2 in their favour. Roche had put some well constructed passing movements from defence to attack and a clutch of fine scores. The Brides were missing all their scoring attempts while Roche also missed a number of good chances over the last seven minutes apart from a point from Pauric Watters who powered though the Brides cover just before the half time break. Half time score Roche 2-4 to Brides 0-2.
Robert Mackin slotted over three unanswered points at the start of the second half and Roche had as many wides before the Brides could add to their score with a pointed free and a point from play off Kirk for the Brides 12 minutes into the half to leave the score 2-7 to 0-4. Roche pushed on all their subs over the remaining time and Mackin and Darren Murphy added two further points for the home team to make the final score Roche 2-9 Brides 0-4.

Best for Roche: Sean Murphy was tidy and bossed his area, closely followed by Eoin Goss. Pauric Watters was dominant at full back and again in midfield. Anton Reilly halted many of the Brides attacks with smart positional sense and tigerish tackling. Liam Goss and Elliot Grey were always busy in the middle and were the stronger pair in this sector. Up front Sean McCourt, Glen Mackin and Anthony Hayden showed up well with Caoimhin Reilly and Robert Mackin proving to be a pair that could not be contained; one creating and the other scoring. Darren Murphy also put on a good show when introduced early in the second half.
