U14 Hurlers: Kinvara 0-5 v Killimor 0-4

November 8, 2018

Kinvara 0-5…………..Killimor 0-4

Kinvara U14 hurlers got back to winning ways in Loughrea today, when they surprised title favourites Killimor. This was a must win game for Kinvara after a disappointing opening defeat to Meelick Eyrecourt, and this win now throws open the whole group. Indeed this win was made even harder by the fact that three of our regular backs were injured/sick.

Playing with the assistance of a nice breeze in the first half, Kinvara starting smartly, and three points from play from Conor Whelan gave us an early lead. Killimor replied with a pinted free before Conor Whelan struck a ’65 over the bar. He followed this minutes later with a lovely sideline cut from 30 yards out. Halftime Kinvara 0-5, Killimor 0-1.

The second half was all about holding Killimor at bay while trying to get the ball up their end of the pitch. They slowly crept back into the game and with time running out they had the deficit to the minimum. But the Kinvara lads held tough, and held out til the end.

There was some great performances throughout the pitch for Kinvara. Every player played their heart out and had to, as Killimor are a top side and nothing came easy from them. Pick of the players were goalie Ritchie Mitchell, backs Rory O’Dwyer, Ronan Kilkelly, Shane Byrne while Conor Whelan played well at midfield. Credit to both sides for a lively and exciting game. Although there wasnt much scores, there was plenty of action for both sides.

Next up is Oranmore-Maree this coming Monday in Kinvara pitch at 6.30pm. No game will be easy in this group of death, as Oranmore have already scored nice wins over Michael Cusacks and Carnmore. This is another must win game for Kinvara and our lads will have to up their game even more to win this one.
