St Paul’s……0-05

Last Saturday morning Edenderry under 14 hurlers travelled to Courtwood in County Laois to take on St Paul’s in very wet conditions. Despite the weather both sides served up an excellent game of hurling, with Edenderry emerging victorious on a scoreline of 4-06 to 0-05 to keep up their recent fine form.
Playing against a strong wind in the first half, Edenderry fell behind when St Paul’s scored two excellent points. Leslie Nolan responded with a very good point, before St Paul’s scored their third point from a free which was awarded for a chop by an Edenderry defender. Jamie Dolan added Edenderry’s second point, after Craig Monaghan sent him through with a good pass. St Paul’s scored another point from a free, before Conor Groome scored an excellent goal, when he pulled first time after a good pass from Craig Monaghan. St Paul’s added their fifth point of the half with a very good shot, before Craig Monaghan scored a goal from a rebound after the St Paul’s goalie made a brilliant save from Craig’s initial shot.

Halftime, Edenderry 2-02 St Paul’s 0-05.

At the break Peter McNamara was introduced in place of Patrick Rickard. Edenderry made a great start to the second half with three quick points. The opening score of the half went to Lee Hyland who sent an excellent shot over the bar for a point. Oran Lawton scored the next two points with a couple of great shots. The Edenderry management then made three substitutions with Stephen Connolly, Jack Kelly and Oisin O’Neill coming on for Conor Groome, Ross Mangan and Daniel Kane respectively. Edenderry then scored a goal and a point. Oran Lawton sent over another great point, before Craig Monaghan scored his second goal from an almost impossible angle.
