Kinvara U14 hurlers were given their group for the County Under 14 B hurling championship for 2010.
The group is:
Oranmore-Maree, Michael Cusacks, Killimer, Carnmore, Meelick-Eyrecourt and Kinvara.
This will be no easy group for the lads.
Oranmore have been making great strides in recent years and have a very strong underage programme that is the envy of most clubs. Our lads met them under 13 in the Oyster Festival and were lucky to get the win.
Michael Cusacks are the combination of Kilbeacanty and Beagh. Neither of these teams are ever easy to beat, so when you add them together then you understand the challenge here.
Killimer are a tough side. We had a great win over them 3 years ago in the Community Games county final, but one thing about them is that they always a tough strong team with skillful hurlers thrown in. A difficult task.
Carnmore are another good side. We struggled against them last year in both U12 and U14. They are never easy to beat and this will be another tough game.
Meelick Eyrecourt complete the group. We don’t really know much about them, but again they are a club who always have good teams. Word is that they are very fast and skillful and could prove a tricky game.
Overall, managers Brian Crossan and Garret Byrne will have their hands full. Training at present is going well in the astroturf and numbers are good. Included as selectors this year are Mark Kavanagh, Chris Whelan, Kieran Whelan and Joe Byrne. Hopefully they can all combine together for a successful year.
First game in championship will probably be early April.
