U14’s Ballinrobe 0 - 27 Corinthians

November 7, 2018

The first round of the u14 plate got under way last Saturday with a visit to Ballinrobe. The team was determined to put the disappointment of the defeat by Sligo in the cup by a last minute try behind them. It was also good to have with us 3 of the Calasanctius College squad who had scored an historic victory in the cup final. It became apparent from early on that Corinthians had the upper hand in this encounter with Ballinrobe, with superior quality both in the forwards and backs. Saying that it took the team a while to settle into a rhythm but when they did they played some fine rugby setting the scene for a five try fest. As ever in any game Ballinrobe did have a purple patch but it is to the credit of the visitors that their defence held and denied the home side any chance of crossing the try line. In actual fact Corinthians defence was so well organised and effective that it really came as no surprise that they held Ballinrobe out for the game. Hopefully the team can now build on this performance and look forward to the next round of the cup.
