Barna GAA’s U16 girls were crowned Division 1C county champions after defeating Caherlistrane in Annaghdown in the championship final on Sunday.
Torrential rain before the throw in made for a heavy pitch but it didn't deter both teams in playing some great football.
Caherlistrane produced the first score playing into the wind and seemed to settle early but the Barna girls began to play a direct game and they reaped the rewards with three goals and a well taken point before half time. Caherlistrane did score late on in the first half with a goal and two points to leave the half time score of 3-1 to 1-4.
Playing against the breeze in the second half was going to put the pressure on but all the Barna girls worked tirelessly for each other with some great passages of play and they outscored their opponents by three points in the second half to win the championship by 4-4 to 1-7.
Congrats to the players, parents and team management.
