U21s lose to Shannon Gaels

November 8, 2018

Parish side St Patricks failed to make any progress in the Offaly U21 Championship losing their opening game to Shannon Gaels at Shannonbridge on Sunday morning.

The Edenderry side looked a sure bet to progress as they were only one point behind at half time and with a strong wind behind them in the second half everyone in attendance expected them to overcome the 1-04 to 0-06 deficit.
However Shannon Gaels put in a strong performance in the second period and a goal after 15 minutes saw them open up a six point advantage. A goal from Paddy Lynch reduced the arrears to 3 points and deep in injury time an Edenderry free saw them work the ball in close to goal however following a scramble which saw them rattle the crossbar the ball was eventually pointed to leave them trailing by two points at the end.
