Under 16 and minors

The under 16’s had an impressive win in their first league game of the season against a spirited Gweedore side on St. Patrick’s Day. They played with the wind in the first half and had a 1 9 to 1 0 lead at half time. The first half goal came from man of the match Anthony Browne with Ryan Kettle also scoring some fine points. The team defended well against the wind in the second half and Ronan Donnellan came to the fore when moved to full back. Overall it was a good team performance and hopefully the first of many wins this season. Final score: Gweedore 1 3: St. Mary’s 2 12. St. Mary’s team: Conor Cairns, Conor Donnellan, Oisin Porter, Caolan McGinley, Darren Gibson, Ronan Donnellan, Conor McNamee, John A. Kee (0 1), Emmett Patterson, Anthony Browne (1 1), Ryan Kettle (0 5), Ryan Bonner (0 1), Dean Bonner (1 3), Peter Blake (0 1), Kevin McNamee.

Their second game was at home to Milford on Sunday last where they had a more disappointing result and lost on a 4 5 to 4 12 scoreline. They trailed by 1 4 to 2 2 at half time and were well in contention. However Milford proved stronger in the second half to secure victory. Scorers: Caolan mc Ginley 0 2, Ryan Kettle, 0 1, John A Kee 1 0, Anthony Browne 1 1, Michael Black 1 1 and Paul O’ Leary 1 0.

The next game for the under 16’s is away to Buncrana on Sunday 29th March. Bus will leave at Raphoe at 10.15am for game at 12 noon.

Training for both teams is on Fridays at 6.15pm  – 7.45pm
