At a wild and wet Corinthian park on Sunday both teams served up an entertaining match in awful conditions in this under 16s league fixture. Sligo who were playing with the wind took the game to Corinthians straight away but were unable to breach their line. Corinthians who were keeping the ball in hand as much as possible, were able to take a foot hold in Sligo’s half and with the forwards working well, the ball was moved though the back line with the centre Rob Tormey getting in for a try. The conversion was missed leaving the half time score Corinthians 5 Sligo 0. With the turn around it was Sligo’s turn to play keep ball and they were rewarded with two tries with both conversions missed. As the game entered the last quarter, Corinthians upped their game and using the wind to good effect now attacked the Sligo line in waves but were being held out. A number of scrums and penalties were awarded due to the pressure and from one such attack Ronan Molloy broke from the pack to force his way over for a try. With the wind now gusting at its strongest, Cian Hynes stepped up to kick a great conversion from about 15 metres in from the touch line. This was to be the final score in the game leaving the final score Corinthians 12 Sligo 10. Corinthians after a slow start in the league have with this result now got 3 wins in a row and are starting to gel.
