U9 Hurling: Naomh Olaf Team A v Trinity Gaels Team A

With the sun beating down on the top pitch on Saturday morning, Naomh Olaf fielded a strong hurling team for a bank holiday weekend. The first 10 minutes was notable for a lot of pressure being applied to the Trinity Gaels back line and goalie, but few scores being converted. However, the scores started to flow from the forwards in the closing stages, with Cian O’Sullivan, David Pollard and Rhys Hennessy scoring. The back line of James Byrne, Evan Cahill and goalie Conor Sharkey were threatened a few times, but did their job well, and held Trinity Gaels scoreless at half time.

The second half brought some changes to the Naomh Olaf team, with Jake Fitzgerald and Richard Shiel going to the centre of the pitch, and Oscar Bent and Sean O’Brien going to the forward. The scores continued to come for Naomh Olaf, and the new back line of Oisin Horgan, James Byrne and Cian O’Sullivan, and goalie Lorcan O’Colmain-Murray continued to keep Trinity Gaels scoreless for the rest of the game. Positives were a great turn out, keeping the opposition scoreless despite a lot of pressure; good motivation from all players, especially Jake and Richard in the second half, and they were deservedly crowned joint men-of the match. Final score: Naomh Olaf 12 Trinity Gaels 0.
