This was a low scoring game unlike the earlier rounds where both teams topped their respective groups with Rosemount having a more impressive record. Rosemount scored 8.79 to Milltowns 7.55, conceding 6.18 to 6.37 . In the opening five minutes Rosemount dominated the play having 6 wides in the first 5 minutes. Despite Rosemounts dominance the sides were level 0-3 each at half time. Milltown had their share of wides early in the second half but true grit and determination from the 19 players used on the day saw Rosemount hold out to win in the end by 4 points.
Players and supporters celebrated long into the night and indeed the next day when a number of players and team management took the Hugh Daniels Cup to our local national school. Master Scally thanked everyone for sharing this joyous win with the children and commented that a number of this team were also stars on the school team which won Comortas Na mBun Scoil (1999-2000).
