Weekend report

November 8, 2018

Another busy weekend was had on the playing side off things within the club.

On Friday night our minors had a sweet victory over are local rival’s lisnaskea in the Div 2 semi-final. The boys played very all and now find themselves in a final next Sunday, Well Done Boys

On Saturday our juniors played away to Brookeborough, in the first ten minutes Newtown should have the game out off site having all the play but with wasteful shooting Newtown wasted there golden chance. It didn’t take long for the Brookeborough midfield to take charge off the game and start ruling the game.

In the second-half it was anyone’s game but Newtown still wasted chance after chance with led to a Brookeborough win. On the day Paul Huston and James Melarkey showed well

In the 3rd game off the weekend it was down to our seniors to cap it off with a win. And thankfully they made it happen with ease. In the first half some off the points that Newtown took were a very pleasant site to the eye. And with Colum Monaghan free taking skills on few show Newtown never really looked in danger. On the restart Newtown were back to there same ways always in control and then the all important goal came with Brendy Mc Brien and James ‘Gouch’ Connolly setting up Frank Mulligan for a well taken goal. Roslea then came back with there own goal breaking through the middle and beating the keeper at his near post.

Over all Newtown was the far better team, looking fitter, strong and hungrier than Roslea for the whole game. Only minus from the game was the sending off of Frank Mulligan
