ADULT

Senior: Nenagh Éire Óg launch their Clean Ireland Recycling County Senior Hurling Championship campaign on Sunday, April 13th at 6.30pm in The Ragg when the lads face Clonoulty-Rossmore. The Michael Ferncombe-coached Clonoulty-Rossmore are among the favourites to win the Dan Breen Cup this year. So, we appeal to all Blues to come out on Sunday evening and support the lads. For a detailed breakdown of the structure of this year’s championship please see: http://www.nenagheireog.com/index.php/the-2014-county-senior-hurling-championship-draw-in-full/

Junior A: Nenagh Éire Óg drew with Knockshegowna (0-10 apiece) in a well-contest North Tipperary Junior A League clash at MacDonagh Park, Nenagh on Saturday evening. In greasy conditions Nenagh Éire Óg battled gamely against Knockshegowna (the 2013 North Tipperary Junior A champions), but there was nothing to separate the sides at referee TP Sullivan’s final whistle. For a report on this game please see: http://www.nenagheireog.com/index.php/nenagh-eire-og-and-knockshegowna-battle-to-a-stalemate/

Junior B: Our junior B hurlers are in league action on Saturday, April 12th when they face Borrisokane in Borrisokane at 6pm.

Best Wishes: All the very best to Andrew Coffey, Shane Hennessy and Conor Ryan who are members of the Tipperary minor panel which faces Limerick in the Gaelic Grounds on Thursday, April 10th at 7.30pm.

JUVENILE

Under-6 & Under-8: Training is on Wednesdays from 5.15pm to 6.15pm and Saturdays from 10am to 11am.

Under-10: Training is on Wednesdays from 5.30pm to 6.30pm and Saturdays from 10am to 11am. Please bring gumshields as there will also be football training.

Under-12 Football: Our under-12 group A team put in a valiant performance, but lost out to a strong Kilruane side on Friday evening. Our group D team, also against Kilruane, enjoyed their second win of their campaign. Both teams play Toomevara on Friday, April 11th in Toome – details at training which continues on Mondays at 5.30pm and Wednesdays at 6.30pm.

Under-14: The under-14 footballers started their championship campaign with a comprehensive win over Kildangan on Wednesday night. Cian O'Farrell gave a man-of-the-match performance at midfield, but unfortunately had to retire with a hamstring injury late on in the game. On Saturday last we contested the North Tipperary Féile Peil na nÓg final against Inane Rovers. The Roscrea men came out on top after dominating the second half. The lads fought to the very end with heroic displays from Eoghan Tinkler in goal and Liam Heffernan at full-back. We play Toomevara in the next round of the football championship on Wednesday, April 9th in Toome while attention turns to the hurling on Saturday when we play Kildangan in the Féile na nGael quarter-final in Puckane – further details at training.

Under-16 Football: Our under-16 footballers put up a spirited display against Kilruane on Saturday evening last in Nenagh to earn themselves their first win of the campaign. Under harsh conditions it went right to the wire with Nenagh winning by a single point on a 2-13 to 3-9 scoreline. It was a terrific team effort with strong performances all over the field including some super points from Adam Healy and great fight shown on the wing by Liam Maher. Keep up the hard work in training lads.

Membership: All outstanding memberships should be paid immediately. For insurance purposes unregistered juveniles cannot play matches.

CAMOGIE

Junior: Our Junior team played Lorrha-Dorrha in an entertaining match in Lorrha on Sunday last. We put up a credible display against last year’s beaten county finalists and we took a lot of positives from the match. The final score was 2-8 to 1-5 with Aislinn O’Brien scoring our goal. There were excellent performances throughout the field with Saoirse Gleeson, Rachel Maher, Zoey Gratton, Julie Moylan and Rachel Spillane all having fine games. We are playing Silvermines next weekend in Nenagh in the next round. Details of this fixture have yet to be finalised. For a report on the game against Lorrha please see: http://www.nenagheireog.com/index.php/junior-a-camogie-team-suffer-six-point-defeat-in-lorrha

Under-14: Our under-14 team played Silvermines in the Féile na nGael final in The Ragg last Saturday and put up a fantastic display only to be denied by a late Silvermines free. Both teams were a credit to their respective clubs and we wish Silvermines the very best of luck for the remainder of this competition. We also played Ballina on Tuesday last in the opening round of the championship and were on the receiving end of a seven-point defeat. Our next game is Tuesday night at 6pm against Éire Óg Annacarty.

Civic Reception: On Friday, April 25th our minor and juniors teams from 2013 will be honoured with a civic reception to acknowledge their wonderful achievements with both teams capturing county championship honours. All players and mentors are invited to attend.

CLUB HISTORY

As most of you are aware the club, under the expert guidance of PJ Maxwell, Nancy Murphy and Donal A Murphy, are putting the finishing touches to our club history book. This promises to be a comprehensive collection of the history of Gaelic games in our parish.

While the club have made every effort to collect photographs of teams from the present to the distant past and other pictures which would be of interest we appeal to people to get in touch if you have a photograph of interest in your possession.

Please do not assume that we already possess your photograph or that it is of no interest.

Every Éire Óg photo, whether it is of a team, presentation or action shot is of massive importance to us and we would be delighted to have it. We are also anxious to get photos of school teams from any of the schools in the community.

If you have a photograph please get in touch with us at eireognenagh@gmail.com

We promise to return the photo as soon as we have it scanned.
