Weekly club notes

November 8, 2018

Our Junior A hurlers captured the North title on Saturday last with a dramatic 1-19 to 1-16 victory over Moneygall. Conor Kirwan, winning his first ever championship medal, scored the winning goal deep in injury time. Check our website www.nenagheireog.com for a match report.

Our minor footballers play  Lorrha/Dorrha in the North final on Thursday 4th Oct  19:30pm in Puckane. All support welcome.

Best of luck to Killian Gleeson and Barry Heffernan in the All Ireland minor hurling final replay v Dublin this Sunday from everyone in the club.

Thanks to everyone who helpd out with and supported the club flagday last weekend.

U16: We qualified for the County Final by defeating St. Marys Clonmel in a hard fought semi final on a scoreline of 2-12 to 2-6. We were slow to settle into the game but rallied to be 2-3 to 0-6 down at half time. The 2nd half was a great battle with hard hurling from both sides and we eventually took the lead with 10 mins to go to run out winners, well done to the lads and management. We now play Drom in the final on this Saturday and a big improvement is needed if we are to overcome a strong Drom team. The match is fixed for 2.30pm on Saturday in Templederry

U10: We travelled to St. Martins in Wexford on Saturday last to take part in a tournament. We defeated Ballincollig, Thomastown, and St. Martins and we were defeated by a strong Ballygunner team.  The boys had a great time and were treated with great hospitality by St. Martins who left no stone unturned to ensure it was a great day, the club sincerely thanks St. Martins for their excellent arrangements and we look forward to hosting them in future. The boys had a tour of Kilkenny Castle and had a stop in McDonalds on the way home. Many thanks to Sean Brennan, Frank Moran, David Kennedy and Stephen Griffin  for organising the day and their great work with the lads.
Camogie Club News
U8s are training on Wednesdays from 5:30 to 6:30. The girls had a great day at the last County blitz for this year over in the Ragg playing 3 matches. The girls have really improved over the year and we would like to thank all the trainers for putting in the effort every week with the girls. We will continue training for a few more weeks and it would be great if the girls could bring a friend to training. Again we must thank County Development Officer Pat Sheridan for his great work in organizing these Blitzes.

U10s are training on Mondays and Thursdays 5:30 to 6:30. There is another County Blitz coming up soon. Details at training.

U12s. The U/12s are training on a Monday and Thursday Evening.  The u/12 go games blitzes are due to start this weekend. Details will be given at training. Our game last week was cancelled but we should definitely have a game this weekend.

U14s. The U/14s are training on Mondays and Thursdays.  Our U/13 B team played their County semi-final against Brian Borus last Sunday in the Ragg. This was a very close and exciting game. This very young team has given us great enjoyment this year and once again on Sunday they performed really well. After their great win against Gortnahoe in the Quarter Final we knew it would be hard but every girl upped their effort again. While the scoreline at the end wasn’t in our favour the girls can look back on an excellent year where their performance and skill level has improved with every game.

Our 13 A and 14 A teams still have County semi-finals to play and one if not both could be on this weekend. Details at training so it is important for everybody to keep attending.

Minors: The U/18 championship is to continue this weekend.

Junior B: Our Junior team will continue to train this week and times will be sent out by text. We are to play Portroe in our last group game this Sunday in Nenagh. Please keep up the good work and we ask that people come along and give the team the support they deserve.

We are delighted to have received a cheque from the North Tipperary Sports Partnership for the work the Club is doing and also due to the amount of girls and Teams that the Club now has. This is a much needed boost to the Clubs finances and we thank North Tipperary Sports Partnership for this. Also to let parents know, we are having our flag day on the 20th-21st of October and we also hope to have bag packing on 8-9 November. All help will be needed on these dates.

Well done to all our Club members who received their Junior Cert results last weekend. Best of Luck to Nenagh U/16 boys who play their County Final this weekend.
