This week’s lotto numbers were 4, 6, 10 & 15 there was no jackpot winner and we had one match three; Laura Boyle Toneguaranne. Nora Duggan Kilcahill won the promoters prize and next weeks draw is in Hennellys on Monday night for a jackpot €5800.

We were beaten in our first game of the Senior League on Sunday by Salthill-Knocknacarra on the score of 0-13 to 0-7. We scored our first point from Michael Melia after a minute but we had to wait twenty eight minutes more before Frankie Burke had our second score to leave us 0-2 to 0-5   behind at the break  We were very rusty in the opening half and we will have improve our scoring rate if we are going to have a good run in League and the forth coming Championship against Killererin in a few weeks time, After the break we upped our performance when we went back to our basic game and cut the lead to one point but Salthill pulled away again to run out winners.  Anthony Pender, Mathias Coleman and Brendan Dooley scored a point each in the second half with out top scorer Frankie Burke adding a further two. Our best players were Anthony Pender, Fergal O’Doherty, Wesley Fallon, Brendan Dooley and Mathias Coleman.  The team was: Padraic Mannion, Shane Collier, Adrian Fitzpatrick, Martin O’Neill, Brian Qualter, Anthony Pender (0-1), Paul Creaven, Wesley Fallon, Niall Coleman, Michael Melia (0-1), Mathias Coleman (0-1), Brendan Dooley (0-1), Morgan Duggan, Michael Newell, and Frankie Burke( 3). Subs Fergal O’Doherty, Ronan Leonard and Raymond Newell.  Our next league is against Tuam Stars in Cregg on Saturday evening at 7.00pm.

We got a walkover from Mountbellew in the Minor football league last week.

The Under-Age monthly meeting is on next Tuesday night in the Club House at 9.00pm with our Adult club meeting on the following night Wednesday May 9 th also at 9.00pm.

 

Our Junior C’ football team beat Mountbellew-Moylough in the league by 1-10 to 4-0 we lead at the break by 0-5 to 1-0 after wasting a lot of good chances, John Killilia scored 1-2 in first five minutes of the second half and we upped our game and lead by seven points with time almost up but we conceded two late goals and in the end were lucky to scrape a one point victory. Our team was Padraic O’Neill, Paul Curran, Derek Joyce, Niall Greaney, Vivian Silke, Michael Curry, John O’Neill, James Melia, Tom Forde, Ger Raftery (0-3), John Killilea (1-2), Evan Melia (0-1), Damian Jordan (0-1), Kenneth Leonard (0-1), and Shane Newell (0-1). Subs Martin Duggan (0-1), Kieran Mitchell, Jimmy Forde, Damien Skerritt and Liam Cahill.

In Junior Hurling we beat Skehana in the League by 3-11 to 0-5 with our goals coming from James Melia, Kevin Howley and Mike Donnellan. The team was Mickey Forde, Tom Burke, Kenneth Leonard, Ronan Newell, Alan Newell, Carl Leonard, John O’Neill, Niall O’Keeffe, Vivian Silke, Christy Burke, Pa Murphy, Martin Duggan, Mike Donnellan. Subs Aidan Joyce, Paul Walsh, Joe Qualter, Richard Burke, Graham Hession, and Niall Goaley.

Our under-14 hurlers beat Kiltormer in the Championship by 2-4 to 1-5 but were beaten by Salthill on the score line of 5-6 to 4-3.

Ladies Football


The Under16’s travelled to Glenamaddy last Friday evening, where they faced stiff opposition they fought valiantly but the breaks didn’t come their way and were defeated.  Their next outing is in Annaghdown against Monivea Abbey.

The Under 14’s went to Clonberne on Thursday evening last where they met Kilkerrin/Clonberne.  This enthusiastic young side fought with determination, but alas were defeated.  They meet Kilanin this week in the next round of the League.

 

The Under 12’s played host to Clarinbridge on Monday evening and  they were defeated.  Their next outing is in Cregg against St. Mary’s.


Training continues on Friday evening for Under 16’s in Cregg and on Thursday evening in Corrandulla pitch for the Under 12’s.

 

We would like to wish Niamh Duggan and the Galway Senior team every success in the League Final next weekend. We would also like to wish the Management of the Under 14 Galway team every success in their opening match against Mayo this Friday evening in Cregg at 7p.m.  Annaghdown is well represented on this team with Claire Delaney, Rachel Murphy, Alison Burke and Cliona Killilea.
