November 7, 2018

Kilmacud 7’s: The Senior panel will send a group of 10 players to take part in this years Kilmacud 7’s competition. The competition will take place on Saturday, September 8th and this year marks the 40th anniversary of the tournament.

We have been drawn in a group with St. Vincents, Clarecastle and Loughrea. We will play our games in UCD with Loughrea up first at 10.30am.

Junior Hurling: Our junior hurlers will meet Burgess in the North semi-final on Saturday week, 15th September. The match will be played in Toomevara at 5.30pm.
In the other semi-final Knockshegowna await the winners of the quarter-final between Toomevara and Nenagh Eire Og.

Family Fun Day: A fine crowd turned out for the club’s Family Fun Day held in St. Flannan’s Park on Sunday last. Thanks to everyone who contributed to the organisation of the day – those who helped out organising the various activities around the grounds, selling tickets for the All-Ireland Final Weekend draw, and helping with the barbeque. Thanks also to our young musicians and dancers for the entertainment they provided, to our referee, and to everyone who contributed to make the day a success.

In the hurling challenge the committee team beat the seniors in an enjoyable game, with many former players rolling back the years with their performances. We hope that everyone who attended last Sunday had an enjoyable afternoon and it is anticipated that the family day can now become an annual event in the club calendar. A selection of photographs capturing the day’s events can now be seen on our website Gallery or on our Facebook page.

All-Ireland U16: Last Saturday St. Flannan’s Park hosted four matches in the All-Ireland U16 Hurling Tournament. Galway, Waterford and Offaly contested Group 1 and following the three matches Galway had topped the group. Later that afternoon Group 2 winners Clare arrived in Moneygall for the semi final, which Galway won by 1-15 to 1-5.

The club wishes to especially thank Bernie’s Supervalu Roscrea, who very generously sponsored the catering supplies for over 200 visiting spectators, team mentors and match officials. Thanks also to all the members of our juvenile club who helped out greatly in the organisation of the day, in particular to Kathleen Carroll, Rosarii O’Meara, Geraldine Maher and Breda Kenny who provided the catering for the visitors, and to Stephen Maher & Paddy Connors who had the grounds in excellent condition for the games.

Junior: Our junior hurlers will meet Burgess in the north semi final on Saturday week, 15th September, in Toomevara. Throw-in time will be at 5.30pm.

Minor: Good luck to the Clonakenny/Moneygall footballers who will play Drom Inch in the Mid Minor B Football Final this Wednesday evening (5th) in Killea. Throw-in time is fixed for 6.45pm.

Under 16: The Clonakenny/Moneygall hurlers beat Dúrlas Óg by 6-8 to 2-4 in the mid quarter final last Monday week. We will meet Loughmore Castleiney in the semi final, which is due to be played next Tuesday evening.

Under 14: The Under 14 hurlers were beaten by Roscrea in the plate competition last Wednesday evening. We will have our last match in the competition this Wednesday evening when we play Toomevara in Moneygall.

County Teams: Best of luck to the Tipperary minor hurling team and management in this Sunday’s All-Ireland Minor Hurling Final against Dublin in Croke Park. Well done to the intermediate panel on their All-Ireland title win last weekend.
