This week’s lotto draw belatedly took place in The Club House on Wednesday night where the numbers drawn were 10, 16, 24 & 27. The reason for the lateness of the draw was due to some business where tickets were left being closed earlier in the week. This week’s numbers produced three match 3’s. Paul Creaven, Tumnahulla; Declan Regan, Clonboo & Michael Melia, Kilcahill. Declan Regan won the promoters prize. Next weeks lotto draw will take place in Peggy’s on Monday next January 1st with a jackpot of €8,500 on offer to anyone that can match four numbers. Thanks to all who supported our lotto in 2006 and we look forward to your continued support in the future. Also thanks to all who distribute and sell our tickets especially the business of the parish as well as the people who turn up for the lotto draw on a weekly basis.
Our online lotto is gathering momentum, which several people now signed up to it. We would ask that you would pass on the details to Annaghdown people living abroad or away from home and afford them the chance to support the club as well as having a chance to win or share our weekly jackpot.
Anach Cuain 2006 (Annaghdown Parish Annual) continues on sale in the local shops. It is lavishly illustrated and contains lots of things of local interest including sport, history, short stories, local information, children’s puzzles, in addition to lots of news, articles and photos of interest to Annaghdown GAA. Great value at just 5 euro.
The Club would like to wish all our players, officers, members, supporters and indeed everyone who is involved or interested in the club a happy new year. Special thanks to all the people who give freely of their time for the promotion of our games especially with the youth of the parish. Also to mention all Annaghdown people who are away at this time and to let them know that we are thinking of them at home.
This week we have added some new photos to the Fotofile including one of our U12 hurlers trip to Portumna, this weeks front page picture and a picture of the cover of the Annals of the GAA in Galway 1932-1969 by Gerry Cloherty which was published recently. This book extensively covers GAA matters in the county during that period and is a must for all GAA fans.
On our front page this week we feature a picture of three of our club members taken with the ‘real’ bomber, Eoin Liston at Declan Regans weeding in early November. Belated congrats to Declan and his lovely wife Aideen and we wish them many happy years of marriage. In the photo are Michael Geoghegan, Kenneth Leonard (who took on the role of best man to learn the ropes!), Eoin ‘Bomber’ Liston and the groom on the day himself Declan Regan.
