Weekly Notes

November 8, 2018

* The final rounds of all the IFC and SFC group stages took place last weekend. For ourselves the maths were both simple and complicated if that makes any sense. In the SFC we had to win by a sizeable margin to finish as group winners provided Clonduff won by a sizeable margin also. If Ballyholland won or drew with Clonduff then simple we were runners-up if we beat Drumgath. We won well at the expense of Drumgath in a one sided affair played in Saval. As you will know Clonduff won by a big margin also and qualified as well. It was a pity we all could not have watched the fantastic drawn All-Ireland SFC semi-final between Mayo and Kerry which was scheduled at the same time. Did somebody not tell Croke Park our match and Clonduff v Ballyholland was on at the same time! For the second year in a row we now face Burren in the quarter-final. The match is fixed for Pairc Esler on Thursday 4 September with the time likely to be 8.30pm. All the quarter final ties look pretty competitive on paper with all the qualifying teams coming to the boil nicely. All the ties will be played over the weekend on 4 – 8 September.
