Weekly Notes

November 8, 2018

* The most popular child with theirfather and a tad less with their mother happens to be the same child with thesame parents this week! Tadhg Owens took it upon himself to upset his mumSinead and delight dad Kevan by helping his team mates to victory over the Clubhis mother plays for! Yes our neighbours The Ford! Well Tadhg had all thebragging rights in the house on Saturday night as he scored a point in the victoryover The Ford in the Under 8 blitz. He was ably assisted by Cian Milligan,Conor McVeigh, Sean O’Neill, Coran Cairns. Mummy as you can imagine was not ahappy camper. You have your Club’s permission to remind your mum about this asoften as you like! Okay Sinead! Thank you and well done to Bryansford, LiatriomFontenoys and Aughlisnafin who took part in the blitz and to all those whohelped to organise it. Thanks especially to Kathy McVeigh and Brian O’Neill forwho did a lot of work on the day!

* A reminder and thank you to all those who gathered sponsorship for the Juvenile sponsorship walk. Please return your sponsorship cards to John O’Neill or Brian O’Neill irrespective of whether or not you have collected all your money. Please do this as soon as possible. If you have any queries please contact John on 07711737610. You can view more photographs of the day in the gallery of our website at www.castlewellangac.com
* Our Under 12 Hurlers had a very good win against Kilclief on Thursday night past. Credit to both teams who served up great entertainment and plenty of endeavour. When you hear the opposition referring to one of their players as “DJ” who incidentally was the smallest player on the field it will give you some idea of who those young players look up to. The young hurlers of the Town deserved their win as they played some nice hurling.

*The Seconds Footballers suffered a big dent in their quest for honours in thePremier Reserve League when they fell away to Loughinisland on Friday Night. Itwas a game we could have won but would not have deserved it as we did not playwell. The lads know a better performance will be needed if we will come out ofCherryvale next weekend when we take on Bredagh in the Championship.

*Hard luck to the Down Minor and Senior Team who fell to Tyrone & Donegal respectivelylast Sunday. Both victors were pushed all the way by Down who just couldn’tfind that piece of magic to usurp the All-Ireland champions. They certainly puta dent in their armour. Roll on the Qualifiers!
