Weekly Notes July 4th

We lost to Athenry in the Junior A football Championship Quarter final played in Tuam last Saturday evening by 3-5 to 1-5 and the saying that goals win matches was true as the winners scored one in the first half and bagged two early second half to put the game out of our reach. At half time we trailed by 1-3 to 0-2 and our scorers over the hour were Carl Leonard (1-0) and a point each from Johnny Murphy, Raymond Newell, Aidan Burke, Liam O’Flynn and John Mannion. Our team was Declan Walsh, Vincent Small, Dermot Naughton, Benny Newell, Noel Burke, Alan Newell, Ian O’Dowd, Johnny Murphy, Raymond Newell, Neill Joyce, Darren Newell, Liam O’Flynn, Aidan Burke, Carl Leonard, Pajoe Fahy. Subs Cathal Gaffney, Joseph Farragher, John Mannion and David RaffteryThe tickets for the Galway / Clare and Galway/Sligo games will be distributed at the pitch on Thursday evening from 8.30pm. This year’s summer camps dates are Football Monday July 16th-21st and the Hurling camp is from August 7th-10th both being held at our club grounds inCregg.
Junior Hurlers face Carnmore this weekend in their first championship game. The game is fixed for Sunday evening at 7.30pm but it could be played in Carnmore on Friday night.
Minor Footballers begin their championship campaign next Wednesday when they face Mountbellew/Moylough in Corofin at 7.00pm.
This weeks Lotto winning numbers were 5, 21, 23 & 27 we had no jackpot winner and there were three match three: Linda Kelly c/o W Dowd, Thesa Warde c/o Lydons and Emma Carter Moycullen. Rachel Murphy won the promoters prize and next weeks jackpot will be  7150 with the draw in club House on Monday evening.
We beat Ahascragh-Fohenagh in the U-16 hurling championship on Monday evening by 3-12 to 2-9.
Our Minor football team played a team from New York in the pitch last Tuesday evening and the committee would like to thank all who helped with the venture with a special thanks to the Martina and Rita and the Minor panel for providing the food and to Willie and Benny for having the pitch in good order.
The club monthly meeting is on next Wednesday night July 11 at 9pm in the clubhouse.
Ladies Football
Our Under 12’s had a great win on Monday evening when they played Mountbellew-Moylough in Mountbellew and won by 4-1 to 1-1. Training continues on Thursday evening at 7pm in Corrandulla. Training continues for Under 10’s in Cregg on Friday evening at 7pm with training for Under 16’s also on Friday at 6.30p.m. The Under 16 League campaign will be resuming next week, so full attendance essential!
