Congratulations to Gerard Connolly, Kilmaine who played in the All Ireland Mayo U14 Hurling team in Portlaoise recently. The side acquitted themselves very well on the day with wins in the group stages over Armagh (8-10 to 0-1) and Wicklow (2-5 to 0-4) to advance out of their group to the cup semi finals. Here Mayo faced Westmeath and after a closely fought encounter, Mayo went down on a 2-6 to 2-3 score line. Although disappointed the Mayo lads can be proud of their efforts being the first Mayo side to advance this far since Mayo entered the competition in 2008. The side are now looking forward to the Connolly/Cunniffe Connacht U14 Blitz Day which will be held in Ballinasloe on Saturday September 22. Wishing Gerard the best of luck!
