Last Saturday September 1st, our 3rd XV took part in the annual Shane Geoghegan 10-a-side Memorial Tournament in Garryowen FC. The tournament was the largest since its starting season with a total of 16 sides entered with teams from Limerick as well as Clare, Cork and Tipperary all taking part. This was a good opportunity to get everyone some time on the pitch and good wins against St.Marys, Douglas, Ennis and Old Crescent saw our boys lift the trophy after an enjoyable, physical and tiring day.
On behalf of the Thirds, Sean O’Brien said: “We would like to thank Fergus Sheahan and all at Garryowen FC for the invitation to take part in a terrific day in what is a tremendous tournament for both the competitive and the social side of the game at this level. Our tough pre-season training stood to us on the day and hopefully this will be a platform for this side and give all involved something to build on as the season continues and hopefully is the first of many trophies for the club this season.”
